Demand True Fair Trade

The U.S. has opened its markets to the entire world. However, the markets of many of our trading partners still remain tightly closed to American made products. American industry, the most productive on the planet, can produce competitive products with any made in the world, provided it is allowed to sell these goods on a level trading field. Anita de Palma encourages equitable free and open trade and truly believes that it can actually strengthen our economy and produce good paying jobs for our citizens. However, she will strongly oppose any trade agreements that do not meet the high standards of equity and fairness.

This is A BRIGHTER WAY!”

The Critical Challenges We Now Face

America Does Not Get a Fair Deal in Trade: Over the years, the U.S. has been the compliant victim of four (4) types predatory market practices from our trading partners:

  • First, the markets of many of our trading partners remain tightly closed to American made products.
  • Second, while some countries claim to have opened their markets to American goods, they continue to impose excessively high tariffs on our products.
  • Third, known as “Dumping,” unfair foreign government subsidies have allowed the producers of export goods to sell products to the U.S. at below their actual manufacturing cost.
  • Fourth, some foreign governments condone, and often enforce, both the maintenance of excessively low paying child labor “Sweat Shops” and they allow their export producers to disregard environmental protection practices and basic product safety and industrial safety standards. Again, this allows these foreign producers to sell goods to the U.S. at artificially lower costs.
